Collaboration to enhance your current treatment
Finding a good fit with a therapist is invaluable. EMDR therapy can augment what you already have that is working for you.
Perhaps you feel stuck on an issue and "loop" in talk therapy. Or you have good cognitive insight about an issue, but it still just doesn't feel true. Your therapist may have even recommended you seek a trauma focused therapy for a past issue that is preventing progress in your current sessions. Utilizing EMDR therapy as an adjunct to your current treatment may provide just the right nudge to move your treatment forward.
I partner with many therapists to target specific memories, stuck negative cognitions or body sensations with EMDR therapy. The focus is narrow and designed to resolve the intrusive material. This helps your healing process move forward while you continue working with your primary therapist.
While working with me in an adjunct therapeutic role, you will continue working with your primary therapist. Our time together is typically short (usually 4 - 12 sessions) and conducted as either regular EMDR therapy sessions in an intensive format or an EMDR intensive.
With all adjunct therapy, I have a pre and post 15-30 minute call with your primary therapist to ensure all treatment information is appropriately shared.
